Super Smart Solutions for Everyday Problems
Why did we develop the screening kit?
Throughout the world the illicit use of methamphetamine is causing a huge problem. Not only does this extremely addictive illegal drug cause detrimental health issues for the users, it also damages the properties in which they live. As the drug is smoked a fine residue is released which settles on walls, furniture and fixtures. Over time this builds-up to a level where it is toxic to current and future occupants of that property, even pets!

Some properties have been used for the clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine which means not only is the invisible drug itself deposited in extremely high concentrations, but so are the dangerously toxic precursor chemicals and the nasty chemicals used to extract the drug.

Our kit allows the DIY user to quickly screen for the presence of methamphetamine to provide a basic positive/negative answer. The level at which we can detect methamphetamine is deliberately set extremely low so that no special training is required to take samples.
What is Methamphetamine?
Methamphetamine was developed early in the 20th century in Japan. It was used as a stimulant and mostly injected. During WW2 both sides used the drug to keep soldiers awake and focused.

Today Methamphetamine is produced in clandestine laboratories as an illegal and extremely addictive drug. Usually ephedrine is converted via extremely volatile and toxic processes to create methamphetamine hydrochloride.
The resulting crystal salt is known by several different names such as P (in New Zealand), Ice (in Australia), Meth, Crystral, Crack....
What is the next step if a result is positive?
The first thing to understand is that a very tiny amount of methamphetamine will obtain a positive result. It is quite possible that the amount detected could be well under any local authority's guideline limit. That said, some people will have a zero tolerance policy regardless of guidance levels. If a positive result is obtained for any particular area, we suggest laboratory tests are completed to provide actual levels for any given area tested area.

Our HELPLINE will assist you in finding a reputable testing professional in your area. Phone 0800 111 390 and speak to someone about your results.
Not sure about the results?
Our tests are designed to be simple to understand but there may be some doubt if a test is really positive. Our helpline staff are available to discuss your observations with you to help provide reassurance. Phone 0800 111 390.

What is the purpose of the BLANK?
Scientists often use blanks to establish what a truly negative result should look like. Sometimes a random blank is submitted with a set of samples.

In this case we designed the kit with a blank so that the user can establish visually that two clear lines represents a negative result. The blank should be processed before the other tests.
